![]() MY FIRST STEPS. Saturday, June 19, 2004 | | Mendi coat (court?) Most of us play card games. One of the best means of killing time, some games can get really really interesting. Some of the games i indulge in are Kalli tirri, judgement, teen do paanch, rammi, Mendi coat, mongoose, badam satti...and the list just goes on. What makes card games even more exciting is that every player has his own version of the rules that should be applied. Now if a new game is being introduced into the group (say one called Kalli tirri), the person introducing the game can give you any set of rules and they are accepted without much of a fight cause no one has ever played it before. THAT is a safe scenario. But if u are looking at universally accepted games like Judgement or Mendi coat, then it gets a little dicey - cause everyone claims to have played it bachpan se and thinks that he/she has mastered the art already :). On a reaaallly sad friday night me and 3 of my roomies sat down to play Mendi Coat. With everyone already quite frustrated (imagine playing cards on a friday night), the game got off to a rather timid start. Me and K were in a team and as tradition goes, we started thodi si cheating. I mean subtle cheating (gestures and eye contact) go hand in hand with any card game. This pissed of Raody who wanted to play by the rules for once :), and the fact that me and K were pulling off easy wins wasnt helping the frustration levels of one Mr.Basu. Before one could say mendi, we had already chadaoed a coat on the other team - they came back and won the next game with 3 tens - thats where the "Kaun pissega patte" controversy started. One set of ppl said that a team keeps dealing cards until they uttaro the coat, another said that one win is all it takes for dealing to change hands( I say whats the point of a coat then??). Even though the game ended there cause of flying egos, the controversy still rages on. Some frantic phone calls and lottsa voice mails didnt help our cause, kyonki as it turns out kisi ke bhi funde are not clear on the rules. So right now am waiting for word from the "BIG BOSS" from lokhandwala to confirm what the rules are, and once we get em, its back to lottsa cheating and eye contact *grin* I now have 2.1 gigs of email space, so bring on the spam and forwards...yeahhhhh. If anyone still hasnt tried google mail, I still have a couple of invites left. listening to Chak de - Hum Tum. JaI. | 12:54 PM |
