![]() MY FIRST STEPS. Monday, June 14, 2004 | | The H1 dilemma! Here I am...a month after my graduation, and I still dont see a direction in life. Am happy with my current job as a programmer, i get my space, get to learn a lot, am working on good technology (get to chat also:))but only one hitch - they wont do my H1 visa. So next step, infact this was the first one - was to look outwards, look for a company that actually gave me all of the above and also sponsered my visa. That in mind, i applied to all the related jobs i could see online but to no avail. 90% of the guys around the DC area wanted you to be US citizens, and if that is not enough you also need to have different levels of security clearance, so that leaves me with only 10% of the pie to bite on. Just when i was getting to bite my share of the pie, i realised that most of them also wanted 5 + years of experience (argghhh) so i narrow down to entry level positions just to realise that most of these jobs dont do ur visa. So all i have been doing in the last couple of months is going round in circles. It gets even worse, ppl keep coming to you everyday - talking bout how the h1 quota is already full and then they immediately follow it up with the "You know xyz joined abc consultant" - which leaves you with not many options but to get panicy and get sucked into joining one urself. Not wanting to go back home, without getting some solid experience(and some savings) here in the US, i might just end up joining one myself. Am looking at some options right now and know that i dont have much time in hand. Also am looking at some issues which shouldnt be there in the first place, so am hoping that I can put everything behind me and make a good start and hope that other things fall into place...just like that :) listening to Thank You - DIDO.
