| | Pavitr aka Spiderman!

This is hilarious!

"Pavitr Prabhakar leaps around rickshaws and scooters in Indian streets, while swinging from monuments such as the Gateway of India and the Taj Mahal.".

hehehe...imagine our own indian spiderman in a dhoti, fighting against Rakshasa, the green goblin.

I guess the Gotham entertainment group are actually taking it to the next level :)

- In the meantime am looking forward to seeing Spiderman 2 next week.

DJ Suketu - Bin Tere Sanam.
Yuva - Fanaa.

Hum Tum - Chak De.
DJ Suketu - Bin Tere Sanam (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED:))

Desi music and remixes are finally coming of age - Specially the faster kind, I am a huge techno/trance fan. I remember listening to Robert Miles, Eiffel 65, Real McCoy, DJ Quicksilver, ATB etc. It used to be a competition between me and raody to see who had the latest collection. They(European DJ's) use to churn out really cool techno stuff in the early and mid 90's but not any more. Its more Rave and soft rock now.

But the DJ Suketu's and the AR rehmans who have grown up listening to that genre of music are now making some of their own. Have always been a BIG fan of AR rehmans music. He is not the traditional composer, he uses different instruments and always tries out non traditional singers. What i love bout most of his songs are the different levels he takes each song to. Rest assured none of his song starts and ends with the same tempo. What helps him is the years he spent in the middle east as a DJ, and the different tunes he has picked up from there.

Another interesting thing about Rehman's music is that i never like his songs when i hear them first, but they ALWAYS grow on me and i am absolutely hooked on to them in no time. The best thing right now bout his music is... ironically his voice, I think the way he uses himself, lucky ali and adnan sami is magical.

My all time favourite AR Rehman song is Ai ajnabee - Dil se:)

| | Mendi coat (court?)

Most of us play card games. One of the best means of killing time, some games can get really really interesting. Some of the games i indulge in are Kalli tirri, judgement, teen do paanch, rammi, Mendi coat, mongoose, badam satti...and the list just goes on. What makes card games even more exciting is that every player has his own version of the rules that should be applied.

Now if a new game is being introduced into the group (say one called Kalli tirri), the person introducing the game can give you any set of rules and they are accepted without much of a fight cause no one has ever played it before. THAT is a safe scenario. But if u are looking at universally accepted games like Judgement or Mendi coat, then it gets a little dicey - cause everyone claims to have played it bachpan se and thinks that he/she has mastered the art already :).

On a reaaallly sad friday night me and 3 of my roomies sat down to play Mendi Coat. With everyone already quite frustrated (imagine playing cards on a friday night), the game got off to a rather timid start. Me and K were in a team and as tradition goes, we started thodi si cheating. I mean subtle cheating (gestures and eye contact) go hand in hand with any card game. This pissed of Raody who wanted to play by the rules for once :), and the fact that me and K were pulling off easy wins wasnt helping the frustration levels of one Mr.Basu.

Before one could say mendi, we had already chadaoed a coat on the other team - they came back and won the next game with 3 tens - thats where the "Kaun pissega patte" controversy started. One set of ppl said that a team keeps dealing cards until they uttaro the coat, another said that one win is all it takes for dealing to change hands( I say whats the point of a coat then??).

Even though the game ended there cause of flying egos, the controversy still rages on. Some frantic phone calls and lottsa voice mails didnt help our cause, kyonki as it turns out kisi ke bhi funde are not clear on the rules.

So right now am waiting for word from the "BIG BOSS" from lokhandwala to confirm what the rules are, and once we get em, its back to lottsa cheating and eye contact *grin*

I now have 2.1 gigs of email space, so bring on the spam and forwards...yeahhhhh. If anyone still hasnt tried google mail, I still have a couple of invites left.

| | The H1 dilemma!

Here I am...a month after my graduation, and I still dont see a direction in life. Am happy with my current job as a programmer, i get my space, get to learn a lot, am working on good technology (get to chat also:))but only one hitch - they wont do my H1 visa.

So next step, infact this was the first one - was to look outwards, look for a company that actually gave me all of the above and also sponsered my visa. That in mind, i applied to all the related jobs i could see online but to no avail. 90% of the guys around the DC area wanted you to be US citizens, and if that is not enough you also need to have different levels of security clearance, so that leaves me with only 10% of the pie to bite on.

Just when i was getting to bite my share of the pie, i realised that most of them also wanted 5 + years of experience (argghhh) so i narrow down to entry level positions just to realise that most of these jobs dont do ur visa. So all i have been doing in the last couple of months is going round in circles.

It gets even worse, ppl keep coming to you everyday - talking bout how the h1 quota is already full and then they immediately follow it up with the "You know xyz joined abc consultant" - which leaves you with not many options but to get panicy and get sucked into joining one urself.

Not wanting to go back home, without getting some solid experience(and some savings) here in the US, i might just end up joining one myself. Am looking at some options right now and know that i dont have much time in hand. Also am looking at some issues which shouldnt be there in the first place, so am hoping that I can put everything behind me and make a good start and hope that other things fall into place...just like that :)

| | Water Water everywhere!

Memorial day weekend was fun ! Drove to Niagara falls, and was overwhelmed with the kind of water flowing all around. I have always been fascinated by flowing water, but this was something else !
Manish got a V6 Honda, so we had good reason to take it out for a spin(All of 1300 miles - some spin that was).
Saw Shrek 2 last night, it has kick ass animation - almost real like. Its a must see, even if u havent seen the first part :)

A very close friend and one of my roomies is on the verge of beginning a new phase in life with his girl! Its an amazing feeling, cause its a first for us. Wishing them luck.
